How to Work a Job Fair

by JUDIT PRICE
Career Tip of the Week
The Wall Street Journal

Upon arriving at a job fair, avoid the stampede at the company booth closest to the entrance, says Judi E. Price, president of Berke and Price Associates, a career-coaching firm in Chelmsford, Mass. Instead, seek out the shortest lines. Don't just ask recruiters what positions their firms are looking to fill now, she adds. Also inquire about jobs they expect to open up in the near future. Before leaving, go back to the employer you liked the most and remind its recruiters of your interest. Then email them a brief thank you the next day, suggests Ms. Price.
