Creative Salary Negotiation Lands Significant Increase

D. B. was employed at a leading computer company for 15 years as a QA engineer. He received minimal wage increases over his tenure and was significantly underpaid. We analyzed his situation, adjusted his resume, coached him on his presentation skills, and encouraged him to networking and seek opportunities in the hidden job market. From one of my contacts at a Fortune 500 company, we uncovered a QA engineer opportunity. D. interviewed and was offered a 10% increase in salary. His old company did not want to lose him and offered to match the offer. The Fortune 500 really wanted D. to work for them and they offered him an additional 7 % plus profit sharing. He joined the new firm and is very happy and loves his job.

Self Assesment and Holistic Counseling Leads to Career Satisfaction

P.J. worked in finance and decided she wanted a change. We administered a battery of self-assessment that indicated significant business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit. She also liked variety, was very good at multitasking and exhibited an outgoing and energetic personality. During the counseling sessions she revealed she was very knowledgeable regarding wines. I recommended that she pursue a career as a Sommelier, a wine steward. Six month later she had accounts with three Boston Hotels where she works with the banquet managers to select wines for different functions. She now also works with five star restaurants to make the wine list recommendations for their entrees. She is still using her finance background but in an industry she enjoys. She is very happy with her new career choice.

Client Achieves Career Satisfaction through Self-analysis Testing

K.G. was a dentist who chose the profession to satisfy his dentist father. Coaching and counseling revealed attributes well suited to a financial planner, and despite the soft economy he is a success in his new field.

Educational Advising and College Counseling Save Money, Time and Hardship for Student and Family

B.J. was a software engineering major at a major university. He had a very low GPA and was in the verge of failing. He was advised by his dean to leave the university. His family was devastated because B.J. was intelligent and an achiever who really wanted to succeed in his career. He felt that computer engineering was the wrong major and since his father was a computer science engineer, he did not want to admit to himself and his family that engineering was not his passion. His parents brought him to me and he went through a thorough self- assessment and a battery of tests. Counseling confirmed that he was in the wrong major, in the wrong school and wrong learning environment. The tests also validated his talents in visual arts and communication. He decided to do an internship at a computer company as a web content developer and a designer. After the internship he realized he liked the work and went back to a small New England college to finish his studies and get his degree. He graduated with a 3.7 GPA and received several job offers
